Fisherman saved birdwatchers from muddy situation

Local fisherman saved birdwatchers in southern Thailand who were caught in a muddy situation

A Norwegian couple was caught in a muddy situation while bird watching in Krabi River, Thailand last week. Fortunately, Chai Ubonchinda who was out in his fishing boat at the time, saw the couple and immediately went to their rescue. Chai first carried the equipment to safe ground before returning to try to carry and to pull the man out of the mud in the mangrove forest.

When he failed in his attempts to carry or to pull the couple out of the mud, Chai gave himself up by lying face-down in the mud to allow the couple to use him as a ‘plank’ to climb on top and to pull themselves up to safety. After Chai finally saved them from the muddy situation, he just walked back to his boat and went on his way.

The whole heroic act of kindness and selflessness was captured by Theerasak Sakritawee.

The couple have since contacted Chai to show their appreciation but he told reporters he did not want anything in return for what he did.

Chai’s actions leave us with much to reflect upon. Do you have any take back from this video?
