@ Sue, you are right. I believe a lot of parents would feel the same way as you are feeling. Just like my mother, she is always happy when she is spending time with her grandchildren. Thank you for sharing with me your simple pleasures. πŸ™‚

Happiness is sharing my love of Halloween with my wife… When she got dressed up with me to scare the kids and I might add did a better job of it.. That was when I knew I loved her…

    Silly but true..

@ Jeff, thank you for sharing with us part of your life’s precious moments. Through what you had shared, I was able to ‘walk’ through this part of your memory lane and it definitely brought smiles to my face. These will definitely add on to some of the fondest memories of your kids. πŸ˜€

For me, it used to be leaning on the fence watching the chickens scratching and pecking around. Now that we no longer live in the country, I love to stand on a bridge and watch the water flow down the river.

@ ECL, that is classic. It doesn’t really have to be that complicated right. A lot of time the simplest act can bring forth simple happiness. πŸ™‚

@ Sher, somehow I knew you will definitely agree with me on this; because you told me once. πŸ˜‰

@ feefifoto, it looks good isn’t it. I think that is supposed to be chicken soup. Chicken soup is supposed to be good for colds and flu. πŸ™‚

@ A. indeed, your comment brought back some past memories for me when I was staying in Kampung, a malay word for village in Singapore. During that time there were so much adventure sprouting everyday; snakes, monitor lizards and the big vacant house behind the one that I was staying that my cousins, brother and I loved to explore. πŸ˜€

I like the idea of standing on a bridge and watching water flowing down the river. I used to go to the beach to watch the waves breaking on the shore and listening to the sound of the waves while having the sea breezes blowing into my face. πŸ™‚

Thank you all for sharing these simple joy with me. πŸ™‚

@ MyJoyz, we are all learning from each other. Just as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, β€œIn every man there is something wherein I may learn of him, and in that I am his pupil.”

@ a.A.a, thank you for reminding me this; that simple pleasure at one place could be luxury in other places. This reminds me of something which most children like – ice cream. Ice cream is a simple pleasure for most children in developed countries and yet that ice cream would be a luxury for children in this some areas in developing countries. Thank you for pointing this out and sharing with us. πŸ™‚

Yes exactly! happiness is as simple as that.
It is as simple for me as Beckham scoring a goal in his free kick or completing a project i’ve been working for , or just sitting and having breakfast with my fatheror seeing my riends enjoy.

@ Aditya, thank you for sharing with us so many of your simple pleasure. I love the part of having breakfast with your father, especially now that I couldn’t have that luxury since my father is no longer around.

@ Bellar, it really can be that simple right – just deciding to be happy. When we decide to be happy, then it will indirectly influence of decision making in other things too and which will indirectly lead us to make more decision to be happy.

@ Lina, yeah, I think that is the best. I am never a cook to begin with but sometimes when I made pasta and seeing my family finished them all up was simply pleasure. πŸ™‚

Hi BK, thanks for your word of advice while I was sick. I really appreciate it. I am so glad that it was not food poisoning. πŸ™‚

Thank you for the wonderful post. It reminded to me the basics, I am deeply convinced in the essential simplicity of happiness. Because if you can be happy at “watching a loved one having the soup that one prepared”, it means that you are living not in some distant dreams, but now and here.
When I consciously accept my NOW moment, the sorrow for my disability transform into the gratitude for God didn’t left me alone but His Spirit indwelt in each of us. So “watching a loved one having the soup that one preparedβ€œ fire my heart with the gratitude.
The discovering of the smile on the faces of the unknown passersby makes each my step of day to day life the miracle of life.
The happiness could be either so simple or disappear in various projects at all.
Thank you. You made my day.

Hmmm hapiness for me is waking up each morning…
To be blessed with another day in your life is a great reason to be happy, and everything else’s follows..
To chat with my children after i get back from a day’s work fills my heart with happiness, their silly jokes and amazing stories, even they fight over the keyboard who’s going to type, (i have 3 beautiful boys) and most of the time i’m confused who’m im talking to-lol, the way they talked to me, when they tell me they love me and misses me heaps and knowing that they well and good even im away, is happiness for me.. beyond compare.

  12. Symphony of Love Post author

@ Gina, thank you for sharing with us something so beautiful. Indeed, to be blessed with another day of life is already a great reason to be happy especially to be spending quality time with your children after a hard day of work. πŸ™‚

oh I absolutely agree. Just tonight I made spaghetti for dinner and my baby girl had some for the first time. I just looooved watching her eat it. It made me just so full of joy seeing her enjoy it for the first time.

@ Sandi, it certainly sounded like an enjoyable experience. When I have the chance of eating lunch or dinner with my sister and her family, I have always enjoyed watching my niece and nephews digging into their food.

I like it. I think you’re exactly right. Happiness should be a simple concept. It shouldn’t have to be elaborate. Of course, people often find happiness in elaborate things as well, like a complex project finally brought to completion, but that’s a different kind of happiness.

    1. Symphony of Love Post author

@ Ben, indeed, happiness can be just that simple and all around us – if we take time to notice them and to set our priorities right. I believe they felt a sense of achievement coming from the completion of their projects.
