My Wish for You: Rainbow and a Wonderful World

Weekend is here again. Time to slow down to breathe and to take time to smell the roses. How is the sky over your side? Is it a snowing or rainy day or is it going to be a sunny day? Over here, it is kind of cloudy and while I am typing here now, it is drizzling outside. A gloomy day? Far from that, it is a blessing enough to be alive and kicking! There is no way I can control the weather and I don’t intend to worry about it either. Since the rain is here, I might as well enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while listening to the sound of the rain and enjoy the goodness of it.

Like what Dolly Parton said, “…if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” Perhaps, I can bring a little rainbow to you through this beautiful medley of “Over the Rainbow” and “What a Wonderful World” arranged by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. However, this version is covered by Aselin Debison. I found it soothing and it reflects my feeling for this weekend – “Rainbow” and a “Wonderful World.”

I wish for you a wonderful weekend with all the goodness in your life.

Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World

Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dreams that you dream of
once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dream of,
dreams really do come true
Someday I’ll wish upon a star, wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops,
that’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to, oh why, oh why can’t I?
Well I see trees of green and red roses too,
I’ll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Well I see skies of blue and clouds of white
and the brightness of day
I like the dark
and I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands saying,
How do you do?
They’re really saying, I — I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,
they’ll learn much more than we’ll know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Someday I’ll wish upon a star, wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops,
that’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dreams that you dare to, oh why, oh why can’t I?

I like that version of those two songs together. I saw it in a movie and thought then that it was a great way to combine the two.

What a beautiful song, and beautiful post. I like what Dolly Parton said about rainbows. I suppose that’s true about so much in life. Context lets us appreciate good over bad, warm over cold, fancy over plain (or vice versa on all of those!).

It’s gray here today, too, but I don’t mind. Like you, it gives me a reason to cozy up inside and dream a little bit.

It’s snowing in my part of the world, but since I’m sick it doesn’t really matter. Sounds like your all cozy with that hot chocolate and I certainly wish you rainbows and a wonderful world also. Thanks for sharing the video loved the version.

Your blog is valuable and lovely to read, as you share your personal feelings about things as humble as rain or drizzle while telling us what you do at the time. Life is all about changes. If there were none, it would be boring. I live on Tenerife Island with little rain but moisture dropping clouds nevertheless. Picturesque and inspiring clouds. Sometimes, I really appreciate a rather gray day. Those are the ones, where we may reflect more and retreat to music, such as about rainbows.

@ Megan, that is one of my favorite quotes and I have always like to use it to remind myself.

@ VanillaSeven, thank you for sharing that. Will check that out today. 🙂

@ Jude, thank you and you are most welcome.

@ Lisa, I’m not sure if you get a rainbow after snow. Do let me know if ever you see one. 🙂

@ Gabriele, you are right; life can be boring if there are no changes. A rainy day can certainly be a good time to reflect and retreat to music. 🙂

      @ Anya, thank you. 🙂

Taking the time to smell the roses… Well I might just take a few days to smell the roses. I’ve been working so much. I think I should make the “Smelling the Roses Moment” a weekly one for sure or else life goes by and all I did was work.
Anyways- thanks for reminding me of this.
    Blessings,
    Eren
