@ Ben, about the married couple, it could be they are doing less engaging activities like going for walk together, chilling out, just having a conversation as compare to just watching TV; there may not be direct engagement.

@ Hilary, I am grateful too and I intend to continue this peaceful sleep. That quote by Richard Branson is truly great and a constant reminder to us.

@ One of The Guys, you have mentioned something which I slipped; it would be tough to live with it during the day already, let alone at night. Just like you, I would be filled with guilt too.

I completely agree in the ripple effect. I think we are able to sleep better knowing we have been kind and also when others are kind to us. I know I have lost sleep over spats with friends/family when they have said or done very unkind things. I’ve always teased my husband for being able to fall asleep in 1.3 seconds. He’s always said ‘those who fall asleep quickly have a clear conscience.” lol So true!

That’s good to hear. I watch very little TV. That study must be accurate. 45,000 people is a big test group. I’m very surprised though that unhappy married couples watch more TV as well. I would have thought that unhappy married couples wouldn’t like sitting right next to each other on the couch for hours. Interesting.

This is a well thought out post BK.

I don’t know how people can live with something like that on their conscience. It would be tough to live with during the day, let alone at night, when nightmares come into play.

Some people are able to compartmentalize their experiences I guess.

I get so racked with guilt that I would have to confess to anything, even if I stepped on an ant.

Hi BK .. I’m so grateful I sleep peacefully - and I like Richard Branson’s quote .. don’t do things that will cause you to have problems at night - that would mean day time too .. leading to a peaceful day on the morrow. Inthe past I’ve sweated at night and worried about work jobs, time frames etc .. but generally I sleep well and because of it don’t worry about not sleeping - I have learnt to accept that I’m where I am and if something hasn’t happened, it is simply because I haven’t been able to achieve it - I’ve done the important things .. the story I’d like to forget - I know it happens, but it disturbs me..

@ Ben, in a normal relationship, communication can be a challenge already when both don’t put in the time and effort for it. Even more so for a long distance relationship. If both parties do not put in the time and effort to communicate, then very soon the relationship will just come to an end.

@ Ben, perhaps the one that fizzles out as quickly as it has come isn’t love to begin with; it could very well be just infatuation. Love is a lifetime project which we work on continuously.
