Reunited at The Rainbow Bridge

Reunited at The Rainbow Bridge

This is specially dedicated to anyone who has lost a pet. I couldn’t lie to say that I understood what you had gone through since I did not own and lost any pet before. But I sincerely hope that you can find the strength to move on from the words and song. And one day, you will be reunited with your pets at the Rainbow Bridge.

The Rainbow Bridge Poem

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Rainbow Bridge by Emi Fujita

Lyrics of Rainbow Bridge

Do you know now that I must be going
To a place full of happy memories
In an emerald meadow by a Rainbow Bridge
You can hear heaven’s anthem on the breeze

Well, a heavenly light falls around me
In a twinkling my youth has been restored
Over green hills and valleys once again I roam free
Like the days when on eagle’s wing we soared

I’m surrounded by many companions
And together we pass our pleasant days
Every need is provided, there is nothing I lack
Save for you to whose memory my heart strays

When you’re heaven-bound
There’s a place you pass through
Called the Rainbow Bridge,
I’ll be waiting there for you
Yes, I’ll be waiting for you
With a heart that’s tried and true
Till the day I can feel , once again,
Your arms around me

Fare thee well now for I must be going
Dry your tears, no you must not cry for me
Till the day that we meet again at long journey’s end
At the Rainbow Bridge,
You know that’s where I’ll be

At the Rainbow Bridge
This heart waits faithfully

This is lovely! I losted a beloved dog once–I miss him to this day still! Our pets become like our babies–very much a part of the family. When we love them I think it is fitting to honor them in a blessed way and pay tribute to them–just as we would a real person or any loved one. :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))

This is absolutely beautiful. I have seen this before, but now that one of our dear dogs is facing some health problems it has much more meaning. He is truly a best friend to every member of our family, and when his time comes he will be dearly missed.

Oh! That was sooo incredibly touching. I have a friend that just lost her dog and she’s been devastated. I am going to send her a copy of that poem. Thank you for sharing this! I think this is just what my friend needs to hear right now!

That was so sweet. I lost my favorite cat once. She was like my baby. I’d had her since she’d been abandoned when she was two days old and was nearly frozen when she was found.

@ Tracy, I agree with you. Usually pets will become part of the family. It is definitely fitting to honor them and pay tribute to them as we would to loved ones.

@ Tina, I hope your dog will be able to pull through its health problems. I am sure when his time comes, he will be dearly missed.

@ Amanda, sure you can share it with others. It is my hope that these words can provide comfort for people who have gone through pets loss.

@ Meleah, me too. The reason why I am posting this is because I have come across a few people who have lost their pets and I hope these words and the song can provide some comfort for them. Do share this with your friend. I hope that these words can comfort her.

@ Pam, she must have been a blessing to your family and likewise, you must have been a blessing to her.

How peaceful – a lovely song and a new artist, I had not heard of.

I love the idea of a Rainbow Bridge .. I describe my mother’s path as going towards her Rainbow Bridge ..

I still cry from giving my dog away 25 years ago .. (my life style after divorce would not allow me to look after him properly) .. silly isn’t it?! But they hit our emotional hearts ..

Thank you – life is so valuable to us all .. live it to the full ..

@ Hilary, I have heard her song before many years ago but it is the first time I am hearing her “Rainbow Bridge.” Life is indeed very valuable and we must live it to the fullest.

I often wonder where my dog went after she passed. I miss her a lot, even though it was many years ago. The thought of her near a place called Rainbow Bridge gives me a good feeling.

@ One of The Guys, just as one of the comments, very often the pet will become part of the family and when its time comes, it will surely be missed and be kept close to the heart; just as your dog. I believe she has never been far away … but always close to your heart.

@ Fatima, that was unfortunate. One thing my mother had tried unsuccessfully was to keep some goldfishes. However, they never seemed to last very long. It was never nice to see any one of them dead.
